As the name Bluegrass Buddha LLC suggests, our focus is a comprehensive based approach that builds an abundance of stored nutrition in the soil each visit. A dark green, thick, healthy lawn with a vast root system is the goal and the result of this highly researched and scientific approach.

David Hineline, founder of Bluegrass Buddha, is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Turfgrass Management. He worked for well over a decade in golf course management before leading the Toro Agronomic Systems Division in Ohio. In this position David consulted golf course superintendents making agronomic recommendations and managed nutrient programs for these high-profile customers including PGA tour courses.

Part of his work included operating a mobile NIRS laboratory where he performed onsite tissue testing of turfgrass plants. Think of this as an MRI of the nutrient structure of plants. The insights gained are second to none in the lawncare industry when it comes to practical turfgrass nutrition.

Utilizing a practical approach for turfgrass nutrition with the understanding of regional soil and plant tissue data, Bluegrass Buddha focuses on cost effective nutrition to stimulate the grass plants own productivity beyond the greening power of great fertilization. Pushing high photosynthesis rates and sugar production in the plant will generate higher sources of food energy in the soil and metabolic reaction in the plant leading to a healthier and thicker lawn.

A quick summery is that feeding extremely well to produce a thick, green lawn equates to healthier plant growth and a higher extraction capability of trapped nutrients in the soil. Our seasonal fertilizer program provides an abundance of nutrition and triggering methods to achieve everyone’s goals of a thick, green, healthy, lawn.

Liming is recommended for all lawns but is not included in the base program. Liming applies an abundance of Calcium to soils to raise soil pH and help soils and soil microbiology function at a higher productivity rate.

Aerification can be added to any program and this helps break soil compaction along with thatch reduction for better soil and plant productivity.
